Hi Folks,

I'm red faced about this. I recently had Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid) on a Toshiba Satellite P200 running beautifully with visual effects and Avant window navigator.

I recently tried plugging in an external monitor and when I went to activate it I got a pop up that requested Ubuntu do something to make this monitor work. I clicked ok and promptly forgot what the message said!

For some reason that has killed Avant. I can't enable Visual Effects either (just get message 'Desktop effects could not be enabled').

I've tried everything to resolve this and can't figure it out. Maybe from now on I'll pay more attention to what I click!!!](*,)

Any suggestions?

Ok, I obviously didn't drink enough coffee this morning. Whatever the dual monitors did is screwed up my xorg.conf. Repaired that and all is well! :p
