Previously i had known that google used a customised version of Linux on their servers, but to learn from this web sight that not only Yahoo but MICROSOFT themselves use FREEBSD (UNIX) on their hotmal server filled me with irionary!
what better recomendation for linux could one have!

I hate to burst the bubble, as I'm pretty sure Microsoft have changed over to IIS now.
That page states Last Updated: 6/26/02

Actually, they just got the servers from whoever they bought Hotmail from, and the servers were running FreeBSD. They didn't switch them to Windows right away, but not too long afterwards.
