I wish to start programming in Gambas2, but cannot locate any tutorials for beginners. Figured someone might know. Thanks in advance.

If you Google "Gambas 2", Did you try the second one down, http://www.gambasdoc.org? The "Gambas 2 docs?" Or is that not what you were looking for...

Gambas2-doc is also in the repositories. You can use Add/Remove Programs, or Syanptic Package Manager to install it.

Hi,

There is a short tutorial at http://kalaharix.wordpress.com under 'Gambas 2.8 on Ubuntu 8.04'. It will be of help if you are a convert from VB or other language but is not designed as a beginners guide to programming.

I have not updated it for some time so the bit about installing Gambas 2.8 from other sites (azores) can be ignored.

You do however (on 9.04) have to go into Synaptic, search on Gambas and install components which have been left out of the repository package.

I am now using Gambas in critical applications in my small business and I must say I am finding it rock solid.

Synaptic includes gambasdoc but it is in html format and it is not structured in a way I find intuitive - but that is a personal preference. You can't search it easily, for instance. But you can search the web (add gambas as a keyword) and it is usually not too hard to find what you want.

I am converting from VB5 so the OO side is unfamiliar but then I am not doing anything very sophisticated - just for my own use - and I am finding gambas2 easy to get into.

Mainly it is a matter of knowing that a particular task is (or should be) possible in the language. This gives you the confidence to persist in tracking down the specifics.
