I would guess dreamworks. As if the person that created the apple one would be called Dave, then Dave would either have had permission for it or not.

If Dave would have had permission then you'd still be breaking the right of Dreamworks, as this is their character.
If Dave did not have permission then you would still be breaking the rights of Dreamworks for the same reason.

I am not familiar with the fair-use rule in usa as it (obviously) doesnt apply in my country.
It might be legal.
I am not sure if you'd even be allowed to use the ubuntu logo, but I'd guess you wouldnt be prosecuted for it's use ;)

Ok, maybe it's not totally legal but nothing really is. I doubt either Dreamworks or Canonical would mind. :D

It's probably fine for personal use but I'm sure someone will get mad if you start packaging this into the next official version of Ubuntu
