You should put a little more power in there, like 450W.

If you're using a video card anyway, try to use a motherboard sans the onboard video.

Thanks The Vid card was out of stock so i replaced it with a 500w power supply and will try out the on board geforce 8200 in the mean time and see how well it works......
I may Upgrade past the 9500 one later on if onboard gfx works well

Total was 203 dollars with shipping for all of the above + the 500w power supply -30 dollar in Mail in rebates will be 173......
All prices are from newegg.com if ne one is intrested in doing something similar.

Wich brands are the power supplies?

What are you going to use the computer for, normal office use? or gaming? (noticed your other threads)

for Linux gaming, a single 9600GT should be the sweet spot.

a 9600GT will be the best nVidia card you can get for the price!

are you planning on BUYING Windows 7, and having an active gaming partition?
because if you are, youre gonna need more than a 9600GT for Windows games.

Well At the moment I am not sure.........about windows 7
Im not quite sure The power of the CPU vs the value gfx card. Atm it's out of stock........I know it will take me a little while to update and tweak it out... Fine tune it if u will....
So by then I would be rdy for a Higher end card....
What would u recomend for win games with that CPU? one that would evenly match up with it...

hmmmmmmm. probably a 9800GTX, but that may be a little above your budget. if your gonna use Windows for gaming, then ATi is back in. so maybe a Radeon 4770 may be better suited to you.

I've been using ATI for past 15 years but the past year sense i've gotten into Ubuntu i've had countless problems with ati And to me it's not worth the hassel even tho the ati cards are cheaper than Nvidia Mostly ....

the X2 + processors and SLI and cossfire gfx are above my head due to me not keeping up with technology ... I got the just of it however I just don't know how to match up cpu vs gfx atm....
As I understand it the CPU as far as Dual core goes is pretty top notch
that i selected.
I've seen some posts saying some games won't even play on Geforce 9800's Due to some multi shading stuff or whatever it was......
I think im Gonna go head and sit on the setup atm And look into a higher end card in the not so far future. I don't mind spending a little more for a GFX card ....... I just don't want to get a crappy one.... it's confusing to me that some 9500 cards outperform 9800's..... ATM with 9.04 Theres some Bug that is preventing me to install ne Driver to get 3d GFX working with the 2 ati cards i have on my laptop and current desktop.

ATi has dropped support for those cards across every O/S, you cant install the proprietary ATi drivers on Jaunty, because they havent made them compatible with XORG 1.6. even though nvidia keeps it old drivers working with newer XORGs.

this is why I now hate ATi. :)

How can A 150 dollar card out preform the Nvidia Geforce GTX 280 almost 400?

My Radeon 4850 works totally fine in Jaunty...sure it doesn't have the best performance out there, but its totally fine for any native game I throw at it. Including Quake Wars, Doom 3, Quake IV, Penumbra and Savage 2

I would also go with NVidia 9800GTX. That's what I put in my system and it's great. I can play a ton of games (like Oblivion) in Wine at max settings. :)
