dvd -> ipod & other handheld media players

I don't know exactly what I need- or how to do it, but I would like to take dvd's and convert them to mpg format to play on an ipod and/or the Sandisk Sanza. I have dvd rip and some other apps, but it seems like you need to be a video engineer to understand how to use any of them. Are there any stupid simple apps out there?

Will Handbrake do what I need? I'm not videocodecformatframerateetc.. mumbo jumbo savvy...

Handbrake will do it and so will Win FF. Win FF looks simpler, but Handbrake is pretty intuitive tbh
