hi.
I'm using ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty and I'm working on gnome. 2 months ago I installed Xfce on ubuntu. but I'm not sure it is stable. because I suffered from some bugs(firefox,pidgin,etc..). it is true that Xface is better in speed. but there is no problem when I am working on gnome. what is the reason for this?

did you install xubuntu-desktop or just xfce4?
what version is jaunty using?

i'm using debian testing xfce4 version 4.6.1, i haven't had no problems.

if gnome works better for you use that, you can use light programs in gnome to and it can be trimmed down to gain speed.

I used Xfce for several months on my desktop at work with no problems. It is not as polished as gnome, but it works just fine.

As suggested, make sure you have xubuntu-desktop installed.

Over a year since I used Xfce, not as polish as Gnome, but has a very good speed specially when you have older hardware

Just xface 4.6.0 not xubuntu.
ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition.

It's really speed. but I think it is not developed yet properly.

Check if you did not left out some packages when you installed it. It may be that xfce is just a bit behind the rest of ubuntu. Xfce is not as work on or polish as gnome
