Hi
I want to give cpanel a try on my 8.04 server. Before i get my key, will it work alright? Are there any real issues that anyone knows of?
Also, what's the best PHP, SQL apache bundle to use for Ubuntu that's easy to install.
Thanks
Mark

I really doubt you will manage to install cPanel on Ubuntu. cPanel is supported only on RH/CentOS and i haven't heard of sucessfull instalation of cPanel on Debian or any derivates.

Yup, you need Webmin, Usermin and maybe Virtualmin.

Install Ubuntu server with the Lamp package. Lamp stands for Lunix, Apache, Mysql and php, perl and python. It will install configured and ready to go.

An alternative to cPanel is Virtualmin, Webmin & Usermin. They are free and open source like Ubuntu.
I wrote a how-to handbook at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1197883
It covers installing Virtualmin, Webmin & Usermin.

Thanks for the help guys. It ended up hanging on install. I went with CentOS 5.3 instead. It's no Ubuntu, but it's still a good distro.

Ubuntu is better supported than CentOS through Canonical and a great/big community.
