hey,
I installed steam from my half life 2 disc onto my laptop which is running ubuntu 8.04 and I used the crossover games software to do it as I would like to get back into my gaming.
steam installed fine and i managed to log on ok. only problem is that my account page does not show up in a window. I have the box on my toolbar which shows what windows are running and it is there, but no actual window when I click on it.
also next to the account bar, I have another bar which says 'Valve Hardware Survey'. I think this is not anything important, but as with the steam bar, it does not open either.
