you just need java installed.
Once installed and you fix the memory leak with java console it runs fine :)
My son is on it "Too Much"
see this post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=108479&highlight=runescape) To fix the mem leak.

to get Runescape to work its simple.....Just download the windows version of Linux.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Download JavaScript and Adobe Shockwave Player and Adobe Flash Player.

http://java.com/en/download/
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=DXLUJ

I hope you enjoy. I had this problem and i thought of this way and it works perfectly. lol.....Sorry forgot this part.

You must use the windows version of Firefox to download the players.

if your using the 64bit version this might indeed be a problem.
