hi,
i have been experimenting with ubuntu 8.04 on a vps. i have found it is has been the easiest to get lamp set up. now that i have my lamp working and i can serve pages to the web. i am wondering what to do next.

i would like to use my vps for a simple webserver. i am not sure what security precautions i should take, if any. i have installed webmin and usermin but i dont think i will need anything that complicated.

i was thinking about eBox for managing a firewall. i dont have an ftp or mail server either yet.

i am just not sure what to do next and i dont want to mess up my lamp installation. (i already had to rebuild a few times trying to get my lamp configured)

any suggestions welcomed!

snapshot your vps so you can go back to the beginning and start expermimenting. try them all and see which you like

thanks, i thought that some sort of backup might be a good idea, myself. is the snap shot done through hypervm control panel or through my distro?
