Okay so here's the question on my mind. Are you happy with Ubuntu?
I mean yeah Ubuntu is safe and reliable, but there are compatibility issues as we all know.
So are you all happy with Ubuntu?

Personally, I'm glad I'm an Ubuntu user, I tried partitioning my hard drive but I failed and lost windows.
I was too busy with my assignments to try regaining windows so I decided to use the Ubuntu system to do what I needed, and I got captivated by this brilliant OS!
I wouldn't even consider switching back to Windows now, I do all my work in Ubuntu and if I ever need a windows program, I just use Wine.

win-win situation. amirite? =D

Wine can only do so much. My only wishes for Ubuntu is for better drivers and more commercial software available, like Photoshop for example.

Does everything I need, and very well.

Though I have had to screw around with things (and break things!) to get it this optimal state, it was well worth the experience.

Understandably, this won't be the case for everyone, though as a computer science undergraduate, I don't mind - it's all good fun when you're learning ehh ;)

If you don't choose a silly laptop manufacturer (asus) most things should work out of the box I assume.

Edit: I don't even have Wine installed.

That's true in photoshops case, we can use GIMP however, it's not as good nor are there any good tutorials for it.
but hey nothing a partition can't fix (or virtual box), even though those options have their own disadvantages.

in any case the disadvantages Windows carry outweigh the disadvantages Ubuntu has, Windows is popular simply because they made themselves the de-facto standard. shame..
