Bring Ubuntu to the living room. Watch movies on your TV, play music, etc. And all packed in a nice desktop for media use only.

i don't know how great it would be in a 'default' setup though, what with ubuntu not having propitary formats and all.

Doesn't mythtv offer an interface that is similar to WMC? Thought I saw that somewhere..... maybe not....

You laugh, it actually kinda existed in South Africa !!! They had a 13 episode series on the state broadcasting channel SABC3 and some on the Sattelite Multichoice Go channel. Was about open source and sponsored by Mark Shuttleworth.

An Ubuntu Media Center would have to come from a hardware manufacturer. There is a Linux media center, we call it TiVo tho ;)
