Hi I am a huge fan of texter - which is a programme that lets you set up key combinations to auto fill text.

Someone else asked this ages ago - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=494889&page=2

There does seem to be a good programme here: http://gexpansion.sourceforge.net/ BUT i am rubbish with these .tar files...wish there was a simplier way.

Any ideas?

you mean how to extract/install these ? Just download the tar file, double click it. It should open with fileroller, extract it to your home directory & you're done.
