View Full Version : [ubuntu] reinstalling Jaunty from CD

I tried to upgrade to Jaunty and this resulted in LOTS of problems, so now I want to install 9.04 on top of itself without losing anything.

I've burned a CD and booted to it (this session is proof!) successfully. When I choose "Install Ubuntu" I can easily get to that point in the installation procedure where I choose manual partitioning, but going forward from there it gets scary.

I understand that I should identify the / partition and mark ONLY that one to be formatted, but how does one identify the / partition?

And if I do identify that, how do I mark it to be formatted?

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
