I had a browse about my old CD collection and found a whole bunch of .lit files for the MS Reader. They are not usable in Ubuntu by default so I installed the MS Reader via WINE and found that the old files worked perfectly when dragged into the reader window.

I just thought Id post in case anyone else had a bunch of these files. For information:

Standard Jaunty Install
Standard WINE install
Downloaded Reader from MS site (Here (http://www.microsoft.com/reader/uk/downloads/pc.mspx))
Installed Via Wine
Did NOT activate (Don't know what it is but I doubt that it would work)
Opened the reader from the WINE menu and that was it.

Hi MaxVK,

Check out post #2 on this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=989067.

Rather innovative solution from everthonvaladoa.

Hope it helps,

Thanks Johan, yes I saw that thread, and bunch of other information about using the c-lit program. Thing is, I have lots of old books as .lit files and I don't really want to convert them all when it takes a few moments to install the reader that they were designed for.

I don't actually mind the MS Reader - after all, it gets the job done without the need to fiddle with anything else, although at a later date I might get around to converting the whole lot into PDF files, which would seem the best way to go to me.

Cheers

Max
