Mythvideo no longer plays mkv files

I have 2 font ends, 8.10 and 9.04, the 9.04 using vdpau, and both were running fine till I updated a few weeks back (I know, don't fix it if it isn't broke). As the title says all my 720p and 1080p mkv files no longer play while standard def avi files still play fine. The mkv files play on the same systems with totem player as well as mplayer if I switch mkv file type to that instead of the internal player so I think the problem lies with mythvideo.

I'm not sure what to post as far as logs go that would help to diagnose this problem. I'd appreciate any advice on how to work through this and get this system back up an running.
