Hi.

Help.

I've used linux for years and unix before that. I have a problem.

Old computer died...

I got a new laptop, came with vista, hate hate hate. Dont... like...

I want to get plain old ubuntu and ubuntu studio 9.x on actual dvd's. I now live in the santa cruz mountains however and a 1G+ download is unlikely to be successful up here. I dont have dsl and cant get it. Can I get it on a physical DVD? Can someone burn it for me and mail it? I'll pay money for your troubles.

I have a friend or two, but leaving my computer at their place for hours is a lousy idea...

You can install Ubuntu as normal... and then install the ubuntu-studio packages on top of that. I think all the packages take about 500MB to download after the Ubuntu installation.

Or even better you can pick and choose the packages you want.
