Hello all, a couple questions for you.

1. I currently use XMarks to handle password and bookmark storage. How does this work with the built in cookie/password/login stuff that Fx will save if told? If I had firefox remember nothing, would the XMarks addon still remember username/password and input em for me?

2. I'm not super paranoid, but it is wise to use XMarks in the first place, even when using a strong password and PIN?

3. Any concerns I should be aware of when using KeePassX? I use it to generate random passwords for most of my needs, and every once in a while export to a .txt to keep a safe hard copy.

Thanks for any input!

Xmarks stores your information on one of their servers so if you delete your local information it will just synchronize and bring the information on their server to your local machine again, unless you uninstall the extension.

I use Xmarks myself for bookmarks but don't use the password part of it. I don't mind storing my bookmarks on a server somewhere as someone knowing that I have the BBC site and the Ubuntu Forum etc. bookmarked wouldn't really affect me a great deal. However, although I'm quite sure that the people behind Xmarks aren't dubious, losing all my passwords to a hacker hacking their servers would be a bit of a nightmare. It wasn't so long ago that the job site Monster emailed me about information about me being taken from them.

I see having passwords stored on my computer as a bit of a risk and having them stored elsewhere as well is at least doubling that risk. I don't let Firefox remember my most important passwords, for banks or anything related to money, at all anyway.

My personal advice is to only store things that can't cost you but I'm not an expert.
