I was wondering if someone knows of any libpurple messengers apart from pidgin and instantbird.

empathy can use libpurple as the backend. There is also the console program, finch which is a console client written by the pidgin developers.

I should have mentioned I wanted a gui app, although I do like finch.

Empathy.... isn't that the new gnome default. I'll check it out.
