Dear all,

I recently got a new Latitude E4300 and installed Jaunty on it. I noticed, that the CPU temperature is considerably higher than it was on my old D600.

The idle temp of the e4300 is around 50C while it runs up well above 80 when under load. That seems too high in both cases, considering it has a low-power consumption cpu. It's about 20C higher than on my D600 running Ubuntu 8.04.

The fan control is working fine, as the fan speed goes up, when the temperature is high. However, even under idle conditions, the fan always seems to blow at least slightly. That seems wrong to me and eats on the charge when running under battery. With the big battery pack, I get about 3 - 3.5 hours out of the laptop ...

Anybody else is observing this problem and maybe has a solution?
