I can't get Jaunty to partition...

I tried to install through windows, and when I did that, everytime I tried to let it install (after it said reboot) it just shut down my computer.

Then I am now trying to use the Live CD to get it to install, but when i get to the part when I usually get a guided install (Like I did on my gf's computer) it doesn't have it. Also the manual won't let me choose new partition...

I don't know what to do guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(Oh, and it's my friend's computer, or I'd do a clean install and wipe everything :P)

When you go to manual, specify a smaller size for your XP partition. If you're using Vista, resize with Vista's tool. After you get free space you can create your Ubuntu's partitions,

I'm trying it now.

It's taking the partitioner a lot longer than I expected, and I wish there was a loading bar, but hey, it's Vista...I didn't expect much :P

Thanks again

and, of course, no one asked about a good/current back-up...just in case...
