Recently I put Ubuntu on a friend's laptop, but I only have it about 2.5 GB. Because of this, he can't really install anything or do much. :/
Is there a way to do either of the following?

a) change the amount of accessible space
b) reinstall, and put a larger amount of space allocated.

Thanks in advance,

You can, in most cases, resize and/or move partitions, but they cannot be mounted in order to do this.

Best way is to use the gparted live cd:
