So I just switched from ubuntu to Debian (lenny) And I wasn't crazy about it, I have always looked at arch and wanted to try but didn't... Well, until earlier today. Its installing right now (I decided to just chose all the base packages....so now I sit and wait) But yea, I just wanted to know any experiences and/or warning about Arch, so if anyone has something to say, I have time.... lol

Protip: Use HAL, not Xorg.conf. Seriously, configuring Xorg completly froze my computer.

...And I wouldn't trust the first mirror under "United States," it sent me a corrupted driver which pacman wouldn't remove, had to reinstall Arch. Unixheads is extremally fast.

And try KDEmod before using KDE. Even if you were planning on not using KDE, I'd give it a shot. MUCH better then Kubuntu. (Imo.)

Make sure you read their wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/), especially the beginniners guide (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide) if it is your first Arch install. Their documentation is very good. As CJ Master has mentioned: careful around the xorg section.

A lot of Linux users follow that progression. :) Arch is pretty much the opposite of Debian Lenny in many ways, so I think it will work out for your needs. Ubuntu falls somewhere in the middle between Lenny and Arch.

Follow the beginner's guide and the wiki; you'll be fine.

Be careful when updating important stuff (like xorg), check the Arch website for possible problems and solutions before updating them.

Make sure you can find your way around a cli webbrowser like Links, so you can google stuff if X breaks.
