Trying to move from Opensuse to Ubuntu but can't get system to load Display Manager. CD Live works normal but when I do an install, I end up at the virtual terminal. Don't know where to go from here.

What happens when you type this at the prompt?

startx

Are there any error messages?

I forgot to mention, if I start the system from the recovery menu, I see the following message.
Starting Gnome Display Manager (Fail)
Then system goes to logon.
