View Full Version : [ubuntu] Shortcuts to programs in VMWare VM?

Hello all, does anyone here know if there's a way to link to a program (say, Visual Studio) that runs in in an XP virtual machine in unity mode from the applications menu?

Ideally I'd like it to start the VM if it isn't already running and then start the program once it has booted, but I'd settle for just starting the program once I have XP in unity mode. Basically I want this: http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-650372.html . The only problem is I want it for Ubuntu rather than OSX.

I get the impression this might involve scripting something myself, which doesn't scare me too much, but it seems like I shouldn't have been the first person to want this, and maybe someone here has already done it...
