Just wondering what kind of external drive enclosure is being used out there. What is a good one? Got a new computer and have a 320GB hard drive in the old one, so was thinking of using it as an external drive. Would like the eSATA. Has that worked for you?

Just pick one that feels solid. Apart from the build quality and available connectors there really isn't much difference between them.

I have three different esata external enclosers. All different brands(whatever was cheapest at the time). ;) I swap them around all the time with no problem. Just remember to unmount them before disconnecting them and you should not have problem.

I'm currently using this enclosure I purchased from New Egg;

Very solid and I haven't had any issues using it with my 1TB WD drive. I also put in a PCI eSATA controller card;

Tad faster on the SATA (albeit PCI) than the USB.

P.S. Oh.. and I put a piece of duck tape over the bright blue LED light on the enclosure -- pretty bright in a dark room..shrug.
