So lets say im going to compile a file, run a command or even copy a file that takes about 30minutes to finish. I made a connection over ssh and run a command to copy files from one folder to another. Usually it will tell me which files is being copied. After 2 minutes i close my ssh connection. After 15 minutes i want to check which file is being copied, i remake my ssh connection. how do i go back to the status screen or the that specific process?? thanks

You can also use nohup

man nohup
for more info

I like it because it automatically plops output into a file for me to peruse at my leisure
