i am trying to install ubutu onto a 2 gig jump drive from the cd onto a laptop. i figured it would be plenty of space for an os with some room to spare. however my first try was a bust with the program saying not enough space. why is it so big, or am i doing something wrong during the install screens and partitioning stages. i am a laymen and dont understand much jargon, however ive gotten this far on my own and i see the finish line, just cant seem to reach it! one other note... the hard drive is toast and disabled so this is my only option till i buy a new hd. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks all

Ubuntu will fit and run nicely from a one Gig USB drive so a 2 Gig should be fine. Just be sure the USB drive is empty.
