With the Nvidia 180 driver firefox works great but openoffice is pretty buggy with it. If I use the older 173 release, openoffice works but firefox is slooooowww. I don't know how to fix those issues.

I know this is not what you want, but you can try alternatives. Firefox for Epiphany or Opera, and OpenOffice for AbiWord+Gnumeric or KOffice.

Maybe for the time. I very unhappy that Nvidia has their drivers closed source or else bugs woudn't happen as often.

If your posted please make your response better. Buying a new graphics card it not a solution for me and maybe for anyone who is having the same problem.

I'm using the 173 driver for Nvidia graphics card on it. Auto scrolling is off.

im sorry but how does a graphics card, make Firefox slower or effect openoffice? neither rely on a graphics card. Well FF can when running video, but that's a flash issue not firefox

and bugs... intel drivers are open source and have plenty of bugs.
