changing swap size

heyah

recently i decided to increase my swap size from 256M to 1G. i used swapoff command to disable swap, then using gparted i changed swap size and swapon. but the size detected by system remained 256... doesanybody know how to change the swap size properly?

I don't know the answer, but I want to comment that a swap space above 500mb is not recommended. I don't know why, but maybe it might decrease performance.
Some sources say that it should be twice the amount of RAM, or 500mb if it's more.
