Hi Guys,

I am looking for a webmail style mail solution to run on a temporary LAN. I want people to be able to plug whatever computer they have into this LAN and pick up messages for them from a server through their web browser. It does not have to be a fully fledged Mail program as the messages will not be leaving the LAN, just some way of storing messages for specific people and allowing these people to access their messages through a web browser. If they can download their messages and save them in some format, that would be even better.

Is this possible, and where should I look?

Thanks.

Use phpbb or any other forum software and send private messages there?

you said IM in the subject line, you could make an openfire server with sparkweb as the client.

I haven't used it personally to see what dependancies are required though.

Citadel of course. You can have it running in about 20 minutes using the Easy Install script.
