Ack! I love that game.
I have Wesnoth on my Ubuntu Box, but my internet is connected to my Windows machine. Does this disqualify?
Even if it doesn't, it's a maybe for me, as I recently began classes again and time is short. But it sounds fun.

you can count me in(although i'm quite lousy.)
any idea on dates?

curuxz
January 15th, 2006, 02:12 PM
probs take about a week or two to get everyone signed up and some sort of order between who is playing who, depends on the number of players. Mostlikely lots of 1v1v1 games in about 2 weeks leading up to a big match or 1on1 game

Are we going to do it out on the official server, or will a few people be hosting whatever game they're in?

The reason I ask is because I have not tried to let someone come into mine yet (should know this friday), but I have a dyn-dns address that's easier than an IP addy.

I was going to host it on my server because its fast and stable, but if anyone has better ideas im open. Was brushing up my playing last night against a load of comp players....lost :( lol

Who cares about speed when playing a turn based game? ;)

If you can let me know what the date and time are, we may have another player. My fiance (while nearly as bad as I am at the game) wants to join us, but needs to know if it will be while she's working.

Well here is how im guna play it for now, i will wait 13 more days (so we have given people roughly 2 weeks to register intrest) then I will post the game sceduals, we can probs deside which games will be played when depending on player numbers. Then its just a case of playing. Im open to when the games actauly take place and will be more than happy to delegate admin responsiblities to each pair (on the first stage games) or the 3 that make it to the final, thats asuming we do several 1v1 games knocking people out untill we get a fianal 1v1v1

Ok with all people? So the awns on time is any time in around 2 weeks :)

Alright, add Nephrinina to the list if you don't mind (she doesn't do message boards, but she reads these under my name, usually with me). She asked me to add it, but if you need her to sign up for the forums and tell you herself, I'll let her know so that she can do that tonight.

Who cares about speed when playing a turn based game? ;)
It doesn't matter if it's turn based or not, there's still constant communication between the client and server. If it's on a home connection, it'll more than likely, be unplayable. (Lag between turns is not fun).

I would be up for some wesnoth. I have 1.02 compiled for amd64 if anyone needs it.

Ok list updated, no need for her to register on the forums dude, so long as you speak on her behalf when you would like to play your (and her) matches then it should be fine.

Dj, are you guna join the fun, 12 days till the battle for wesnoth begins ;)

Btw we have 10 people now so if we can get to about 20-30 by next week then we should be able to have a proper tournie!

Time to start practicin lol....

Arrgg, what days will it take place. I have school during the week, with studies. I may have free time on the weekend. (Unless my girlfriend wants to bother me.:???:

BTW, I can get Wesnoth compiled on the PPC arch. (Dapper Duck, though)

Ah no wories DJ, when you get slected for your matches you can then discuss with your opoent the best time for the match. I am not fixing times since we are all in diffrent time zones so im waiting to see who comes against who, ill count you in ;) but let me know if your too busy when time comes.

I discovered Wesnoth today, and it seems to be mostly everything I ever wanted from a TBS. So, I'm quite enthusiastic, but very little practiced :) Nevertheless, count me in!

Urgh, sorry guys.

Remove me from the list, I've got studying and the possibility of heading out of town.

Yeah, take me out too. I'll be short a computer due to my own stupidity. I have no idea when it will actually be fixed (maybe tomorrow, maybe next month). I'll let you know if I get it fixed sometime soon and get back on the list.

I flashed my bios so I could disable my onboard video card (was trying out another card), and now the bios wont read....tried just about everything so now I need to get a new mobo, and may end up just getting new processor, ram, and everything else that goes with it.

thats a real shame guys, if you change your mind you know where I am :)

Games will be annonced on wednesday of next week so only a few more days left to sign up! :)

txgunslinger
January 30th, 2006, 02:33 AM
My girl (nephrinina) wanted me to let you know that she will still be playing. I'm still looking around to see if I can get a motherboard before then.

curuxz
January 30th, 2006, 07:24 AM
cool, the games are NOT running in sync, Ie its possible for 2 contestants to share a pc, playing their games at diffrent times, which will work uptill the point where they play each other. Maybe thats a way you could join in for the first round without a new mb?

RaiSuli
January 30th, 2006, 08:30 AM
I'd like to join the tornie. Discovered the game only a few days ago though, so I better start practicing. :)

txgunslinger

Count me in (for the first round anyway)! I thought they would be running at the same time, and I didn't want to knock her out of it. We actually had a long talk about who would be getting to play (both insisting that the other would play).

Now for the good stuff: I have been told to ask if there was a particular era that we will be playing in, and if we're just going to be using game defaults. I thought it would probably be up to the players involved in each round, but it's always best not to assume things like that.

On another side-note, I have ordered a new motherboard for my computer, and I should know sometime today when it will get here.
