Hi, I am trying to play WAV files recorded from my mp3 player. The default application for this (totem movie player) does not do anything at all when I press play. VLC player plays the file with skipping in the file. Why is it that something as simple as WAV playback cant even be implemented properly in this piece of garbage OS. In Windows this would not be a problem. I always see tons of articles on how much free software is available for Linux. Whats the point if it is all garbage?

Can anyone recommend a piece of software that will play all the popular types of files without messing up so I can delete everything else?

Hi ricouzuki.

I play music files with amorok, rythmbox, banshee, etc.

They tend to play them better.

Eh, too much code from microsoft?:)

Seriously, mplayer and vlc with the proper support libraries can play just about anything.

I little bit of politeness would be wonderful. Nobody is forcing you to use Ubuntu and nobody is preventing you from using Windows or any other OS.

In my opinion, you should go back to Windows or change your attitude and learn a little bit how things work before calling other people's work a piece of garbage.

I'm not a developer, but I respect what they do, specially considering they give it to us for free. BTW, it is much better than Windows for me and I used Windows for 15 years.
