I tried to download and burn an ISO file from a separate computer to a CD and use it to install Ubunto on my Dell Dimension 8400 that I'm having so many problems with. I don't think I did it properly or I'm just not understanding something. First off the CD of couse is only 700 MB in size and the Ubunto program that I downloaded appears to be about 698 mb in size. That right there makes me nervous as I feel like I'm trying to pack it on there and something might get missed. I burned it as a data disc and I put the cd into the Dell Dimension and went to boot and kept hitting F12 and it didn't seem to give me an option to boot from the cd. I don't want to connect to the internet because there is a trojan on this system ( which is why I want Ubunto instead of windows ) I tied to double click the set up file on the C through explorer and got this message "error message that said "Can't locate metalink and therefore ISO" What is it that I'm doing wrong and please just tell me the easiest way to get Ubunto onto this computer. It does have a DVD drive too. Thanks, Brevardo

The file needs to be burned as an iso file, this is not a data burn.

Windows is not equipped to burn an iso file; typically you have to use Nero or some other windows burner program. The best bet is to download and burn on another linux computer. K3B has always burned cd and dvd isos OK for me.
