Ubuntu is an Operating System my friend. Ubuntu is a Linux distribution.

You might want to look into iTALC (http://italc.sourceforge.net/home.php). It looks like it might be similar software.

The other thing I came across was the Teacher Control Panel (http://sourceforge.net/projects/teachercp/). There haven't been any updates since 2006, so I don't know if that means it is stable, or abandoned. It runs on Java.
