Firewave sound card help

Hey I've got a Macbook(4,1) with Ubuntu 9.04 and a Griffin Firewave firewire external sound card. It doesn't work.

I've tried to test the different options in the Sound preference, but it always plays audio from my laptop speakers.

Can anyone help me get audio playing from my external speakers?
