Just installed kubuntu 9 on MBP from around Jan 2008 era. I don't see anything obvious in system settings to set the machine to sleep on laptop close. It doesn't by default which seems rather dumb for a laptop. Found power management suspend options. But setting suspend to disk or suspend to memory both do not sleep the laptop on lid close. So what is the trick. Or is this MIA yet again? I really very much would like to run kubuntu fulltime on one of my apple laptops. But I can't without this.

In Gnome I just go to System -> Preferences -> Power Management, where there is a checkbox for this.
Another way (in Gnome) is to run gconf-editor from the command line, and go to apps -> gnome-power-manager -> buttons.
Dunno if those tools are available in KDE, but there must be equivalents some where.

My MacBook Pro 5,1 does not wake up from sleep as well. It was mentioned in some other threads that for the newer machines its a bug that needs to be resolved in a subsequent update.

I have the same problem with my Macbook 2,1. I can't get it to wake from sleep either. This is a major reason I won't boot into Linux full time.
