I am using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on compaq laptop with connecxant audio. My laptop has touch volume up, down and mute buttons. Untill yesterday they were all working fine. Today none of the buttons work at all.

Whenever i press volume up/down button, i get a graphic display showing that volume is being increased/decreased but actaully there is no change in speaker volume. I have to use Totem players volume control to control the volume. Also the system main volume control works. But i want to use only laptop volume buttons.

>>> got it working by keeping same track in system--> sound preferences and the track controlled. But there is a new problem.

The Mute button does not work when i select "Master" track to be controlled. Selecting track "PCM" can use mute button but the led light colour does not change to red when i mute it. It stays blue forever. I know its stupid and trivial issue, but is it a way to achieve both at a time?..
