Hello all, I'm a novice programmer who would like to get involved in an open source game project, both to give back to the open source community and also to learn about game programming. Does anyone now of any projects that would be interested in bringing a novice on board? It would have to be a C/C++ project, and it would be nice for the project to be SDL-based, because I'm learning that API and it seems pretty slick. In a related question, is there a good website anyone can recommend where open-source game projects get paired up with programmers, artists, etc.? I'll be developing on Ubuntu of course. Thanks.

htttp://www.happypenguin.org

I have a few ideas for games, though none of them have been started, and quite frankly I can't program myself. I do have quite the imagination, and can write and could organize a project.

Unfortunately it sounds more like you want to join a project rather than start one yourself, but that's good too. That website has just about all the opensource games in existance, so have at it :D
