Anyway to switch GPUs in MacBook Pros?

As the title suggestions, I'd like the ability to use the MacBook Pro's 9400 GPU as opposed to the 9600. Battery life and heat are the main reasons.

When I'm in OSX, I typically run off the 9400, so I'm not asking for a away to do this dynamically (which would be nice) but one that will at the very least let me choose the 9400 either by editing a conf file or downloading a patch/utility

I'm running kubuntu 9.04 on a MacBook Pro 5,1

if you search here for the Macbookpro5,1 threads, there was a bunch of attempts made to get it working, but they all failed. You might have another idea and can help. Check it out.
