I'm a newbie Ubuntu user, and I want to change my desktop theme.

I run Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger on x86. My Gnome is in Norwegian language so reference to menues and error messages in this post is translated to English.

I have tested the preinstalled themes in system/user preferences/themes settings. But, I want some others so I googled for some Ubuntu themes ending up at GNOME-Look.org. I tried to download several, both GTK 2.x and GDM themes.

GDM fails when I install them (unvalid file type).
GTK 2.x Crashed my entire user account (I had to create a new one with default theme).

Is there a repository for Breezy Badger with Gnome themes that I can download and install? Or, do any of you know of a site that has themes I can use?

Thanks in advance!

About gdm I can say that I just tried to install a new theme and download it from ubuntu-look in a *.tar.gz format and it worked perfectly.

How do you install it?

Hi Odin. Thanks for replying.

I have now tried some other GDM themes. And they work. Must have been the Theme I downloaded that had errors.

I works fine now. But it would still be nice with at Theme Repository :-)
