Errrmmm...

The default Dell Ubuntu 8.04?

Or Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 (available as an img for USB installation).

I've used both, and think the latter is the way to go. Just add Aircraft Manager and the usual codecs.

I'm using the Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04. I installed it from a USB drive.

I was not happy with the pre-loaded 8.04. I do like 9.04 Remix.

I agree , check the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR) it's fully supported and it works so much better in every respect.

That is not very nice. We are all here to help, and this happens to be an Ubuntu community so it only seems logical to recommend ubuntu.

I don't know about the netbook remix, but I am using 9.04 on my mini 9 and it loads surprisingly fast.

faster means it is NOT doing something
8.10 on my mini9 with rotating cube is impressive
xubuntu may be faster but......
