Can any one direct me to a small (under 300mb) linux distro that will boot on most moden macs? Any help would be much appreciated.

Here you can get the Ubuntu MinimalCD

For Debian

You can find small Installer CD also for Fedora and Gentoo

Sounds like you are looking for a live disk distro you can use from the disk. If so DSL or Puppy should boot on an Intel mac. For a powerpc the Ubuntu live disk is the only one I have used and it is about 700 Mb.

on a modern mac, you should have a lot of options.
