when i'm trying to install Ubuntu i get the following message:

Permission denied

What version of windows? If it's vista then I suspect you may have to run the installer as administrator. Windows isn't my area of expertise really though.
To be honest, just download the cd to install from boot and do it from there, it'll be less hassle
