Garageband/iMovie replacements?

I'm a Mac user, but would like to be able to completely move to Ubuntu over the next year, and two things that are stopping me are Garageband and iMovie.

Could anyone recommend any good music editors that I can get ok samples for and connect my guitar/bass/microphone/usb m-audio keyboard to?

Also anything like iMovie, maybe even Final Cut where I can connect a Firewire MiniDV camcorder would be awesome too.

You may want to look at Ubuntu Studio: http://ubuntustudio.org
