Can anyone answer a few questions on writing lab reports/journals with latex according to AIP (American Institute of Physics) style manual?

I've read the manual but am confused on citing references in the work, such as the intro or the procedure.

Am I supposed to cite page numbers? If I use the latex way it gives me say [3, 56] - reference 3 page number 56. But in writing english papers that would be wrong, I've never used commas in a citation. Doesn't look right to me.

Also, can I use verse quotations and such? say \begin{quotation} \end{quotation} of course with reference included at the end.

And what do I follow as far as reference standards go. MLA, APA?

A lot of questions I know, but I'd like to get a handle on this! Anyone have latex experience with lab journals?

Thanks!!
