Title says it all really.

I have tried countless times to disable it, with rebooting, logging off then on, it just will not stay disabled!

All suggestions will be appreciated.

remove the ubuntu-sounds package. That should fix it.

Not really, since it will take out all the other sounds. It is just the log in sound that needs to go.

EDIT: Just tried it on another computer and it works perfectly :/ so what's wrong?

EDIT AGAIN: It seems it got confused because it, apparently, didn't have a theme selected. So I selected the Ubuntu theme and then disabled the sound and it worked this time!
