Hi folks:

Not even sure what to call this, ive had an idea running around the edges of my brain for a while now ive got quite a number of samba file servers running at work -- some of them are small (80gb) on older pentium3 hardware (works great, just not a ton of storage) others are .5tb range -- and im probably getting a couple more (with big horsepower) in the half tb range. IM wondering if there is an (OPERATIVE WORD HERE) EASY way to connect them all together so that they essentially act as one big (distributed) hard drive. Not sure what to call it -- but there it is

Thanks

TIM

What you are probably looking for is a storage area network. There are many different setups but one you could use is the Global File System.

I can't seem to find a ubuntu tutorial at the moment, but you should keep looking.

ISCSI might be another solution that might suit your needs as well
