Rythmnbox- No preferred format

After importing a load of CDs into Rythmnbox I tried to transfer them to my iPod, and then find that the iPod does not support .ogg file formats (yeah, I should have chacked first). After reading this post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4203075&postcount=14) I went to try and change the preferred format, only to find that I am not able to select any format, the drop-down does not work, even though when I click edit I am able to see the mp3 option (but I can't enable it because the box isn't working). Any ideas how I can fix this?
